Autumn Time...

I love fall...I love the crisp air. I love the brilliant leaves. I love that it cools down. I love everything about it...except for the end when it snows...

Hiking...

The two littlest wanted to go hiking today after I dropped the twins off at a friend's house. I went home, gathered their coats, and we were on our way. I got to the lake, and they said they didn't have shoes. Hmmm...wouldn't that be an important thing to take hiking. I told A*** that shoes are the most important thing to take hiking and she asked, "More important than taking a bath and brushing our teeth?"

I went up to another lake to take a few pictures of the mountains and colors reflecting in the lake and let them walk barefoot on the ground for a few minutes...M*** stepped in a mud puddle and cried like she had been beaten. I bet they will remember shoes next time...

Not getting fired....

Oh, and I talked to my boss today and he told me I am not on the brink of being fired...He just likes to be really harsh with people at the beginning to ensure that problems don't happen twice (I guess)...He says if he isn't hard, he is mad and angry all the time, until he fires the person about 6-9 months later. :)

Busted...

Yesterday, K**** went to her friends' house. I dropped her off, and she was upset I wouldn't let her drive there with the kids in the car (she isn't that good of a driver and I wouldn't want to put their lives at risk)... We then picked up the twins' friend who lives nearby and went to Hogle Zoo...When I was dropping the twins off at their friend's house later on to watch a movie, and started heading home, I drove past a stop sign, looked to make sure the other person was stopped, and saw a shocked, familiar face behind the wheel, putting her hands to her mouth...I drove about a block, turned around and followed them. I saw K*** jump out of the car, run to the back seat and switch places with her friend C****. I followed them a few blocks, flashed my lights and they finally pulled over. I told K to get her things because she had to come home. She had the gall to ask, "For what?"

Anyhow, she won't be going over there for a while...

And what are the chances that I would actually catch her at that moment??? I actually wonder if maybe she was going to have an accident or something so I was placed there in that moment...

Back up plan...

At least if I get fired, I have another past boss/supervisor who called me yesterday and offered me a decent-paying job...not as lucrative as the current one, but at least I wouldn't have to deal with hyper-critical boss man...

However, I am actually hoping that now that I have made some screw ups, had some miscommunications, and learned the proper way to do things, I shouldn't have any more problems....but it's always good to have a back-up plan...

Rudest boss I've ever had....

Here is the interaction I had with my new boss/supervisor last night after I failed to get a report to him as promised because my son broke his arm and was in the emergency room...

Boss: "Where's the report!?"

Me: "You're going to be irritated, but my son broke his arm in football practice and I have been at the ER with him all night."

Boss: (exasperated sigh) "So when can I expect it?"

Me: "I'll finish it up in an hour and email it to you."

Boss: "Fine." (click)

I actually think I am on the brink of being fired over a few minor miscommunications and this current late report...I have never had someone be so critical of me in my life over minor details as he is...so maybe it wouldn't be so bad if I did lose the job...I just hope he gives me a chance to show how well I do when Melissa gets back and doesn't have to work overtime every single night....

Anyhow, I have been depressed all day and annoyed that family problems seem to be holding me back in life... :(

What a lovely day...

Well, today started by getting up at 6:40 to help my daughter get ready for school...I was dead tired because the night before I slept only 4 hours before driving 2 hours to Duchesne, working 12 hours testing kids in the wilderness, and driving 2 hours home...getting to bed around 12:30 AM...

Then I had to take my wife to the airport because she is going to be gone for 6 days for a family reunion/50th wedding anniversary.

I did waste about 2 hours taking my 2-year-old daughter to temple square and the new conference building and taking some pictures. Then came home to work on the report that was due today...I got most of it done, but work was interspersed with kids bugging me to do things for them, including running their friend home and helping with a driver's Ed test (ID parts of a car)...The girls had Young Women's at 6, and my son had a football game at 7:30, for which he left about 6. I was then trying to finish my report, get scores from Monday sent to the psychologist I was working for, trying to get the two youngest ready to go to the game, etc. I finally go to the game at halftime...then had to chase the littlest around because she kept trying to run off. I failed to mention that she peed in her training panties today, failed to bring me a diaper when I asked her to, and proceeded to defecate in the living room--four large turds!!! Before I could clean them up, our dog gobbled one of them up before I threw her outside. I got home around 9:30, then had to feed the hungry girls, then had to get them to bed, then had to get the youngest to bed 2 more times as she has learned to climb out of her crib, then finally finish the dang report by 12:30 AM....about 10 hours later than it should have been done.

then I got an email from my wife in Florida about a tearful phone call she had with the twins who feel that the Young Women leaders are spreading rumors about them and how the parents in the ward are spreading rumors about them and won't let their kids associate with them. I have a hard time feeling sympathetic as the twins have acted socially inappropriately for the past 7 years and always have people saying negative things about them...I just think this is the first place where it is getting back to them, instead of their parents telling them that people will think negatively of them for undercontrolled behavior and hyperactivity in church.

Yeah...it has been a great day...don't even ask me how much I got done on my dissertation....

Stools are cool....doofus...

My 2-year-old discovered how useful a stool can be. Today, she snuck into not one, not two, not three, but four bananas in approximately a 15 minute time-frame. She also got herself some bread.

She is also starting to get kind of bossy and slightly rebellious as all 2-year-olds do...and she is starting to call me "Doofus" when she is mad. Sticking her in time-out doesn't seem to be extinguishing this behavior, but at least she'll say, "I'm sorry I called you Doofus, Daddy" when she gets out. :)

High Utah Desert...

I have been down in Enterprise testing kids again...It has been nice to be outside in the pinion/juniper trees again. I have kind of missed being out in the forests of Utah...

I saw a lot of deer, 3 coyotes (two of which were HUGE), wild turkeys, and a funky lizard or snake that was bright blue all the way down its back...I have never seen something like that before. I couldn't tell if it was a snake or lizard, even though it was less than 3 feet away...It was just gliding across the pine needles, then disappeared into the brush. Anyone know what it was (it wasn't a blue-bellied lizard)...

I got a sunburn on my legs and face, but learned that I need to take sunscreen...actually, I had sunscreen in the XTerra, but didn't know it until the second day.

I just got home at 2:30 AM

New Underwater Camera....

Check out the pictures from my new underwater camera...Actually, they are from the Cabelas aquarium near my home...

Padded???

the other day our 2-year old went into her 16-year-old sister's room, picked up her bra off the back of a chair and said, "Here's your boobs, K********."

psych testing in the wilderness...

I went to the wilderness near the Utah/Nevada border this past Monday for my new job...It is going to be interesting. We do psychological testing on kids who are in wilderness programs, and we do the testing IN THE WILDERNESS. We sit on little camp chairs very close to the ground and do IQ, Achievement, and Rorschach testing. It is nice to get out into the woods, see nature, and get a suntan. :) I think I am really going to enjoy this job.

I have to go to Duchesne next week to complete testing on a kid there.

I am not sure how fun testing will be in the winter, but from what I understand, we do it in our vehicles. :) I guess all of that is why the company is able to charge a bit more for the testing.
