Party...

I went to a friend's "end of summer" barbeque last night. I think I was the only married person there and I was sans wife because she was working. I made small talk with a few people, but mostly felt out of place. I tended the fire and ate a lot in the corner. It didn't help when one of the women to whom I was talking asked me, "Where's your wife?" as though I was flirting and she was reminding me of the ring on my finger. I decided to go back outside and tend the fire. :)

Historical Records...

My boss was telling me about another psychological evaluation we will be doing next week at a local jail on a federal case. Apparently, the judge has said that he/she will not authorize more testing, but will require the defense to refer to a room full of records from the past 20-30 years. I think it is interesting that in ancient days, it was kings and royalty that had their lives documented so well. Now leaders, celebrities, and great achievers still have their lives documented in books, but the mentally ill and convicted criminals have massive amounts of information about their lives written down and recorded for future generations. So, unless you are famous, or mentally ill/criminally comported, then you had better record your own history if you expect anyone to take notice of, or remember you in any way 100 years from now. :)

George Burn Lips...

I just realized that if I don't stop sucking on ice all day long, I am going to get smoker's lips...yes, those horrible sad perpendicular lines surrounding my mouth in all directions. How sad that I have a smoker's face and have never smoked a day in my life. I guess I can take consolation that I don't have smoker's lungs... :)

Pushing Buttons...

I was at Costco ordering some prints from an SD card...The card reader was not working, and I wondered if my card was defective. I asked the lady behind me what type of card she had, and she showed it to me. I told her, "You have an SD card like me, see if you can get it to work." She proceeds to try and shove her SD card into various card reading slots on the computer. Finally, she inserted it into the SD card slot and went to work trying to push an XD card button. After watching her alternate between punching the SD button and the XD button about 10 times, I leaned over to her and pointed to the SD button and told her she had an SD card and would need to just push that button. She retorted, with a voice full of controlled anger, "Sir. I have been pushing that button and it wasn't working," and proceeded to push the XD button.

What I wished I had said..."Why don't you push the CF card button and see if that works for you..." or "Why don't you just try all the buttons and see if it magically starts working for you?"

Instead, I just ignored her rudeness and waited for another computer whose SD card reader was not broken...

What would you say to someone that said that?
