Work...

I am working at the drug rehab center today for just over $10 an hour...I realize it isn't the best pay, it is quite boring, but I like staying in touch with some of my old co-workers. Plus it is nice to meet new coworkers as they get hired on. This might be the last shift I take for a while because I could be making 2-5X as much money staying home and working on reports for my other job.

Clean House

Despite all of the floods and problems of that sort our house has been looking much better now that M**** has a 9-5 job. She stays on top of the kids to do their chores much better than I ever did. I guess I got tired of constant conflict and started only giving occasional reminders.

Anyhow, M***** has spent the past week deep cleaning the house and it looks amazing. Even the little girls' rooms are clean and they are keepign them clean because M**** is checking up on them every night. I really like our home much better when it is clean and wish I had more of a cleaning streak in me...

Well, if anyone wants to come visit, now would be a good time to do so...you can see our home at its best. :)

What a morning...

Wow...before 9 AM I had already had an argument with my wife, found out the water heater flooded (3rd flood in 2 months), and the Yorkie was lost for about a half hour...what a morning...

Memories of "L"

For some reason, L is the sister I did the least with growing up. When she was born I was in 2nd grade and not that interested in babies...I was always playing with friends in elementary school and always busy working, at football practice, at debate meets, or hanging out with friends in high school. I did more with the two sisters younger than her because they were fun to take around and get attention from teenage girls. :) Of course, in some ways it is good I wasn't around her as much, because then I didn't tease and make fun of her as I did with her older sister epitome of sweetness and she wasn't scarred for life....

I have always respected L and find her sense of humor hilarious. I have really enjoyed getting together with family when L is there and listening to her and the other family members tell such hilarious stories. I often leave family visits with sore cheeks from my underused smiling muscles. :)

L has always been very self-reliant and has basically been on her own since she left high school. She is a strong woman, a level-headed woman, and a loyal friend. Maybe when I finally take my licensure exam I will have more free time and more expendable income to actually drive up north and visit more often...

Hope you had a happy birthday....

"C" World

When I went to Seaworld, I thought of this...I told my little joke to everyone in my group and not one thought it was funny. My sister "L" told me I was a dork. My brother "NM" told me I was a nerd...I don't care...I thought it was funny and I laughed about it several times that day. :)

Baaaa....

My 7-year old told me that at recess she doesn't play with her friend Taylor anymore because she is always talking to A***'s other best friends in the corner and she wants to play something "funner." She also said that Taylor and her friends have started the "Sheep Club" and they walk around the playground baaing like sheep. She informed me that they don't eat grass, but they just say "baa" a lot and walk around. I'm glad to hear my 7-year old isn't joining.... :)

Trip down memory lane...

Memories...I hope you will play along. Here are the directions:1. Add a comment on my blog and leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot- just do anything you remember!2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you. If you don't want to play on your blog, or if you don't have a blog, I'll leave my memory of you in my comments!

Calliope Hummingbird

I realized today that I could set my camera to manual, put it on proper settings for a good exposure, put the camera on a tripod, then study for my EPPP exam. Every time I heard whirring wings I could reach up, press the shutter release and take pictures. I was able to kill two birds with one stone today. I got a lot of studying done and some nice pics like this one. :)

White Peaches...

While on vacation, our peaches ripened. A neighbor picked them for us and left most in a box for us on the counter and kept some for herself. She taught us that we could boil them, easily peel the skins off, put them in freezer bags and freeze them... Now we can have peaches all year long. Our white peaches are some of the best I have ever had...much better than yellow ones. :)

Calliope or Broadtailed Hummingbird?

I am not sure which type this is, but he has staked out the tree in my yard and will not allow any other hummingbirds to eat from the feeder...

Bodyguard

I am staying with my uncle/aunt in laws and they have a bathroom without a lock. I asked M. to stand guard for me so that no one came in. She said, "Okay, I'll be your potty guard." I thought I heard her wrong, "You mean my body guard?" And she responded, "No, your potty guard." :)

Boy Scouts???

My Uncle-in-Law was the 7th Sergeant Major of the Army during Ronald Reagan's years as president. His house is covered in medals, commemorative coins, commemorative eagles, etc. My 7-year-old daughter saw the medals on his sliding glass door and asked me, "Did he get one of these for helping a little old lady cross the street?"

Free Help

I made the mistake of telling my wife's best friend's date last night that I was a psychologist. He had way too much to drink and began unloading on me throughout the night. It was a little awkward because of all the TMI he was sharing. I don't even do therapy that much....maybe I will tell people I am a psychological evaluator... :)

Feathered Friend?

Today, Miranda was squatting in the kitchen grunting and making loud noises like she was straining to do something. We asked her what she was doing and she innocently and matter-of-factly stated, "I'm trying to lay an egg!" She should be careful or she might 'lay' a brown squishy egg... :)
