Comfort Lewis (1769-1817) & Abigail Bragg (1770-?) (5G Grandparents)

He was born in Rehoboth, Bristil,MA and died in Wolcott, Wayne, NY.
She was bornin Cheshire, Berkshire, MA.
---
Comfort Lewis family who lived in 2 parts of New York in the late  1700's to around 1840-1850. They are first recorded in Ulster County near Marlboro, NY, and from there move to Wayne County NY in either Butler or Wolcott, NY (I have contradicting accounts). Comfort was married to Abigail and from all I
can tell was a farmer by trade. His family included:
Abial Lewis
Charles Lewis
Benjamin Lewis
Esther Lewis
Levi Lewis
Sally Lewis
----
Film and deed numbers for Comfort, I found the deed from the heirs of Comfort Lewis, deceased, recorded in Book P, page 286, Seneca County,  New York. That deed gave me the children of Comfort and Abigail and included all their spouses.
On the 1800 census for Otseg o County, New York it lists Comfort Lewis. So I found deeds from that county and found that Comfort and Abigail deeded away their property there about 1815, they then moved to Wolcott, Seneca, New York, ple ase note that county had a boundary change in 1823 and it then became
Wayne County.
Comfort purchased his property in Wolcott, Wayne, New York from Elizabeth Hamilton, a widow on 1 Oct 1816, I have a copy of that deed. It contained 150 acres, he deeded away 50 acres of that land to Wilm Davis of Wolcott, on the 4 Jun 1817. And the heirs of Comfort, deeded the other 100 acres away in 1822.

Abigail, his widow by that time had remarried, Jonatha Runyon, the deed was signed by Charles and Lucy Lewis, Benjamin and Lucinda Lewis, Zion and Abigail Potter, George and Sally Hallet, Esther and James A.L. Bunce and Abial Lewis. They at that time were all listed as over 21 years old, and it also named Comfort and Levi as infants under 21 years old.

Daniel Bunce and Mrs. Daniel Bunce (5G Grandparents)

The family later moved to Norfolk in 1761, and then Mrs. Howard lost track of them, although she did find a record of what she believed was the son, Daniel BUNCE, in a book, Revolutionary Soldiers Resident or Dying in Onondaga Co., New York With Supplementary List of Possible Veterans by Rev. W. N. Beauchamp, which stated Daniel BUNCE was age 71 years in 1820, which agreed with the above birthdate for him. Also she had found the name of an "Abiram BUNCE" on an early tax list for Egremont, Berkshire Co., Mass. She thought this may have been a misspelling of the name of Abraham BUNCE of the above family. Mrs. Alice K. Howard compiled a 250-page manuscript entitled Genealogy of the Bunce Family of Connecticut, a copy of which she gave to the Connecticut State Library in Hartford, as well as several other libraries where descendants of Thomas Bunce were known to have lived.
----
Abraham Bunce born 8 Nov 1747, Canaan, Litchfield Co., Connecticut. There is a record in the book, New York in the Revolution—as Colony and State (1775-1783), of a man named Abraham Bunce serving in the Revolutionary War in the Second Regiment under Col. Philip Van Cortland. A Daniel Bunce is listed as serving in the same regiment.

Additionally, the name of "Abraham Bunts" appears on the 1790 census for Mohawk Town, Montgomery Co., New York, p. 110, with 1 free white of 16 years and over, 2 free white male under 16 and 5 white females. Montgomery County covered nearly half of New York state at that time; however, today there is the Town of Mohawk within Montgomery County. Also on that same census in same county and town were the names of Jacob Bun, John Peter Bun, Jacob Bun Junr., John Bun Junr., all with families. However, this surname "Bun" may have been confused with that of Pieter Quackenboss, who was also known as Peter Bont, since there were no stringent rules with respect to spelling at that early date. On the 1800 census index for New York state, on p. 186A reel 3, there is the record of an Abraham Bunts residing in the Town of Paris (now Trenton), Oneida Co., New York. There is no record for an Abraham Bunts in the 1810 NY census, but in the 1820 census index, there's a record of a man by that name residing in the Town of Wolcott, Seneca Co., but the Abraham Bunce, son of Jacob, would have been 73 years old at that time, but it's possible that he was still the head of a household.
27. Daniel Bunce, born 8 Jul 1749.

----
Daniel Bunce born 8 Jul 1749, Canaan, Litchfield Co., Connecticut, married twice, but his wives' names are unknown, died 10 Dec 1823, at Pompey, Onondaga Co., New York. Per Nov. 1975 letter from Mrs. Alice K. Howard, Daniel Bunce was a soldier in the Revolutionary War as his name appears in a book, Revolutionary Soldiers of Onondaga County, New York, by Rev. Beauchamp, where it says he was a pioneer, 71 years old in 1820, which would have agreed with the birthdate of Daniel Bunce born in Canaan, Connecticut in 1749. Further, his war pension record S44715 shows he was age 71 in 1820, his wife was 45, oldest child was 12 years old. His dau. Martha H. Bunce was administrator of his estate, recorded 23 May 1825. Their children were (plus others since the 1800 census for Rensselaer Co., NY shows 10 children in the household of Daniel Bunce):
