This is cool, but I can't figure out how you did it. Somewhere in my playing I ran across an effect like this, but can't find it now. What did you do? Or is that a trade secret. ;)
I am not sure what graphic/photo editor you have, but in photoshop, I duplicated the layer, added a Gaussian Blur of 25 pixels, then set the blend mode to darken. Then I took the eraser, set the opacity to 11% and the flow to 22% (because it would be too hard to type 10 and 20), and erased the areas of the duplicate layer that were too dark...Pretty simple...I love the effect though.
