My grandmother Beth Huntington Allred told me the following story on March 15, 2013. She said that Richard Evans and Sarah had two children in England. One died of small pox. Another child died on the ship to American of small pox and had to be buried at sea. She said that Richard was working at the mines when they got to America (I think in Pennsylvania) and he was killed when a plank fell and knocked him off of a walkway above the mine.  Sarah and her children came across the plains with a handcart. She had a young child around age 5 and he had to help his grandfather walk the plains (I think this is what she said).  So, Sarah would pull the handcart with an older child, and then she would have to walk back to get her young 5 year old and the grandfather and accompany them to camp. She basically had to walk the plains 3X.
