Delusions vs. Religious Beliefs

I did an evaluation with a woman a few years ago who was a Jew of Spanish descent. She believes that she sees dead relatives, speaks with them, receives messages from them, and that they move the things around in her room. She has reportedly learned things about her family from them that were supposed to be family secrets (i.e., her father had an affair before she was born with a specific woman, and this was confirmed by her mother). She feels that everything she does creates signs for what is going to happen, such as she wore blue and white today, then later found out it was Israeli Independence Day. She sounded Schizotypal, but if her "gift" is accepted in her culture, maybe it wouldn't be considered a mental disorder. Apparently other women in the family have the same gift. Maybe she comes from a long family history of Schizotypal Personality Disorder, or maybe this is a cultural issue...I love interesting cases like this. They are much more fun than the 'run-of-the-mill' evaluations.

Do any of you know about Jews from Spain and any special gifts of clairvoyance/mediums?

well i don't know about jews of spanish decent but I definitely believe that there are some "gifts" that people have that are not readily or easily explained by logic. There have been several times in my life where I've dreamed about things that turned out to happen, but I don't think that makes me schizo, (or maybe it does LOL). :)

Ryan, here are some recommends for your wife when she is in Miami from my friend there:

Bayside (downtown Miami)...great place by the water, millions of shops, restaurants, live free entertainment...can dine, seat by the water with coffee, ice cream or just water! (my 1st pick for what u have asked)

Coconut Grove (Coco Walk)...shops, street vendors and shops...and tons of good restaturatns with
ton of people watch!

Miracle Mile, Coral Gables...same as above but a bit less trendy and crowded

and of course...Lincoln Road in Miami Beach (think South Beach)...but you know that is a gorgeous location but...need to be a little open minded however, dining, shoping, and people wathcing is out of this world.

I can give you her number if you want any other recommends. Hope she has fun!

I did hear an old wives' tale once that said that if a child is born with the afterbirth covering their face, then that is a sign that they are clarevoyant. I don't know how that could make them so..I'm just passing along the wive's tale. lol

You have been TAGGED! Check it out to see if you would like to particpate.
