High School Friends

I just got a Facebook message from Tiffany W**** S********** (Burke's wife). I guess they live in Salt Lake and she works near where I work. She also told me that Jason M****** who worked with me at the Conoco back in the day, is working at an engineering firm, lives in Sandy, and is in upper management in his firm. I think it is so interesting hearing from old friends. Also another Friend Anthony Cox, is a local artist and he has a gallery showing at A Gallery in Salt Lake City...go check out his paintings and buy some so he can be more successful than he already is... :)

Owls...

FliesWithoutWings blogged about owls being messengers of bad news...I hope owls are not truly harbingers of doom...I saw a great horned owl on the side of the road the other day. I called the DWR and took a few pictures. I helped the officer put it in a cage so he could transport it somewhere...probably to put it out of its misery...Anyhow...I had my encounter with an owl and will keep my fingers crossed that nothing bad happens. My wife has been dreaming that I get in a car wreck on a local highway while she is working...she said I was wearing tan pants and a black shirt in the dream...I have been avoiding wearing those. :)

Pimp Daddy Dante...

If you can ever purchase a purebred, AKC registered dog that is in high demand for breeding, I highly recommend it...It is a great way to make extra money for impulse purchases... :)

"I love you Dad..."

Whenever my 3-year old gets in trouble for doing something, and I raise my voice or give her a short lecture, she always says, "I love you Dad..." Then I am forced to say, "I love you too, but please don't do such and such..." :) Talk about taking the wind out of your sails...

Fun New Game...

I wouldn't let my 7-year-old daughter sleep on my floor tonight (I occasionally let them make little beds over by my desk), so she told me I was the worst dad in the world. She stormed off to her room and slammed the door. She came storming back in a few minutes later with her pajamas on. I was folding socks on the floor, and picked one up and threw it at her in a teasing manner. She picked it up and threw it back at me. We invented the new game of dodge sock...I highly recommend it with ornery little 7-year-old girls. She quickly began laughing, and even told me she was sorry she had said that to me... :)

Nature vs. Nurture..

I found it interesting to read other family members' blogs and see some similarities that I share with them:

1. I hate calling people on the phone unless I have a reason because it makes me feel awkward...I even hate it at work sometimes.

2. I have to rearrange the dishwasher when the kids do it, because there is so much wasted space. I can put nearly 2X as many dishes in as my kids do...

Now some other quirky things:

1. I carry a camera with me everywhere I go, and if I see something photo-worthy, I stop and take a picture...

2. I always worry about opportunity cost...If I do this, what will I miss out on...

3. I always have to have thing in my car trunk like racquetball racquet, flyfishing gear, blankets, coats, running shoes, etc. just in case I run into someone or a situation that calls for that equipment. Then I don't miss out on anything fun.

4. I love sleep, but still stay up extremely late editing photos, watching "The First 48," or other crime shows.

5. If I find a really good deal, I always feel a compulsion to buy it, even if I don't need it. :)

6. I always feel like if I ask enough questions, I can determine what someone is really thinking, if he/she is lying, and even figure out motives or situations that might have caused his/her behaviors.

7. My 7-year old likes to sleep in her clothes so she doesn't have to waste time getting pajamas on...I usually let her, because I used to think the same way. :)

I am sure there are more...these are kind of fun to think about, so I might post more...
